From pushing carts in a Costco parking lot after college graduation to Procurement Director—Root Vegetables, for Loblaw Companies Ltd, Greg Palmer’s experience in the industry has taken him from pavement to paving the way for fresh produce excellence. As the new Vice President of Trade and Market Development for the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, Greg has an exciting new path ahead to map and an entire industry to advocate for. No pressure, Greg! So, we thought a simple IF List would probably be a nice break for this Canadian produce trailblazer. And by the looks of his responses, he had a lot of fun with it too...
IF you had to distill your personal definition of success into one sentence, what would it be?
Happy home, lots of travel, enough to share.

Hospitality. I would love to work in beautiful hotels and restaurants and make everyone feel welcome!
IF you had to choose one personal artifact to leave behind after you are gone, what would it be?
I’m not one for material things. I’d rather leave a legacy of people who felt supported to go on and do great things.
IF you had a crystal ball and could see into the future regarding one thing, what would it be?
Part of me does think it’d be nice to know what day I was going to die! I know it sounds morbid, but I would make sure to use my time to the fullest.
IF you wrote an autobiography, what would be the title?
Twirling, Titrations, and Tomatoes: The Greg Palmer Story. I was a professional dancer once upon a time you know, and my undergrad is in Science.
IF you had to wear the same thing every day, what items of clothing would you pick?
Hoodie, jeans, and a black ballcap. A black ballcap has become the Greg Palmer signature look.

Pasta. I LOVE CARBS.
IF you could re-experience an awesome day in your life, what day would you choose and why?
Christmas Day in 2018. It was my last Christmas with my mother, and I spent the whole day just doing nothing with my family.
IF you had a superpower, what would you want it to be?
I’d like to predict the future, then I’d use my powers for good.
IF you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
You’ll get there. Don’t rush through and try to enjoy the ride.
