If weather favors the state, the growers in the Rio Grande Valley are able to start shipping retail quality and volume on onions by March. Volume only picks up from there and the growing region moves, carrying onion production from the Winter Garden & Uvalde areas, on to the far western reaches of the state, going through most of the summer.
