Editor's Letter - Issue 92 February

Writing is a muscle prone to both proliferation and atrophy; constantly in need of maintenance, revival, reimagining, and tuning. As I sit here on my second cup of coffee in hopes of dissolving the fog of four hours' sleep, my three-month-old at my side, resting inside this moment of twilight, I have come to realize how much I love what I do. This gift you all give is as fleeting as water, but a permanent fingerprint on my life.

With the cursor blinking on my laptop, I looked back over months and months of notes I've jotted down in my phone—a living record—when mapping out my Editor's Letters. Some were sent to the trunk in the back of my mind, others were just awaiting the right moment. What I am struck by is what they represent as a whole: my own journey is fresh produce. Yes, they evolve into the introductions to our Snack issues, but laid out in front of me they are an archive of my education and introduction to this amazing space you all have created.

The muscle I have worked, toned, and strengthened. The lessons I have learned. The conversations absorbed as cornerstones of my growth and humility as a witness to the wonders of our industry members.

It's a beautiful thing to be caught off guard by the mirrors of your life. As 2024 loudly and dynamically wound down and the new year crested the horizon, I couldn't help but use the opportunity to reflect on my gratitude for those who have supported our team, helped us navigate the storms and triumphs, and been willing to let us amplify as voices for the advocacy of fresh produce and all its stories.

My last few weeks of maternity leave will allow me to deepen my commitment to you as I find new ways to appreciate motherhood and its balance with an industry that is also as important to me as kin.

I welcome 2025 with open arms, a pen in my hand, and a renewed sense of dedication to all of you.
