4Earth Farms™ Dave Hewitt Discusses Expanded Capabilities for Vegetable Programs

I know you are already privy to many of the powerful capabilities possessed by 4Earth Farms™, and I am going to share a few more with you here. From new products to East Coast expansion and much more, the grower is making strides to strengthen its position in the industry. One of its most recent developments includes new capabilities for French bean, green bean, Brussels sprouts, snap pea, Floret family, and Rainbow carrot programs. I sat down with Dave Hewitt, Vice President of Sales, to hear all about it.

“An area of primary focus for our team is to ensure we’re always evolving when it comes to supply. This includes our growing strategy—how, where, and when we plant; and what we learned from the previous season—what worked and what didn’t,” Dave explained. “Each of these programs has its own unique set of challenges and opportunities, and our customers have high expectations when it comes to quality and supply.”

With those high expectations comes the need to meet increasing demand in the fresh vegetable segment. And 4Earth Farms is staying competitive by keeping pace with the changing seasons.

“In addition to increasing acreage on French beans, green beans, Brussels sprouts, and snap peas, we have introduced a few new growing regions,” Dave continued. “This is meant to help offset the challenges that are sure to come in the summer months.”

As 4Earth Farms’ capacity grows for each of these popular programs, it is integral that it maintains a strong distribution network to keep the supply chain running smoothly. Fortunately for the grower, it has established a strong foothold on the West Coast and recently expanded on the East Coast as well.

“With a presence now on both sides of the country, including Nogales, Arizona, we are rolling out delivered programs which impact freight costs and reduce food miles,” Dave told me.

With so much happening over at 4Earth Farms, I had a hunch that this was only the tip of the iceberg for the grower. A fresh produce maven like this is ever in motion—building upon one industry advancement after another.

Though Dave played his cards close to the vest, he did divulge that, “There are a couple items in the testing phase as well as some packaging ideas we hope to share very soon.”

If you are anything like me, those words are music to your produce-trained ears. That is the beauty of this industry. Supply-side champions like 4Earth Farms always give us something to look forward to.
